I decided to buy skincare kits as Christmas presents this year (bear with me this does have a marketing theme).

  There’s a line of dialogue in Black Adder III (Episode 4 Sense & Senility) where Black Adder is looking for a new job. The line goes “…there’s a fellow called George Stephenson…has invented a moving kettle…wants someone to help with the marketing….”

With Lisa Whitehouse from Whispertree who provides sales support including out bound telemarketing services.   Telemarketing is one of my favourite marketing tools.  I was chatting with Lisa about it the other day.

Dr Andrew Fowler from HFL Risk Services gave a presentation at The Heath in Runcorn regarding the 4Ps of process safety. These are Plant, Procedures, Process and People.  He said he thought the most important P is People.

    With Bruce Gornaik and Brian Henshaw from Northwich based Miltec Internet Limited.   I find Search Engine Optimization one of the hardest marketing topics to get my head round.  The guys from Miltec helped though.

  Marketing communications are probably the highest profile area of marketing.  Everyone has experience of marketing communications as a consumer. We are bombarded with marketing messages every day.

  For many people telemarketing is a pet hate.  I have to say I agree, certainly consumer telemarketing.  However, is it telemarketing or telesales?  I think it’s telesales.

  Having video on your website is a well known way of improving organic rankings on internet searches.  In itself that’s a good reason to have video clips on your website. There’s another more fundamental reason, though, particularly for technical companies.

  I have heard it takes 10 times more resources to gain a new customer than to serve an existing one.

  What are marketing metrics?  A very good question.  There are some very complex answers out there.  Trust me; I have studied more than a few!
