I went on a close up visit to the Mersey Gateway last week, organised by the Halton Chamber of Commerce (many thanks everyone).  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  It was brilliant to hear about the casting of enormous sections of the plaform and fitting them together from each side until they join up in the middle.  The ecology of the Mersey was fasinating too.  I know there is a lot of controversy around the polls and the roadworks but the civil engineering involved is amazing.
