I went to the Greet, Eat and Meet event at St Asaph this morning. There was an excellent presentation by Solvings. Never thought about storing data on Drop Box before today but speaking to Dr. Les Pritchard afterwards enlightened me. Drop Box stores files outside the European Economic Area which means the data has been exported. The Data Protection Act says that:

“Personal data shall not be transferred to a country or territory outside the EEA unless that country or territory ensures an adequate level of protection for the rights and freedoms of data subjects in relation to the processing of personal data.”

Storing the data as an Excel file and password protecting the file is a simple solution.
